Making a Selection
1. Economical mode: depending on the prices entered for electricity (see section 3.3) and gas
(see section 3.6), Daikin Altherma will use the cheapest one.
2. Ecological mode: depending on the CO
2
emission factor (see sections 1.3 and 3.6) and the
primary energy factor (see section 1.3), Daikin Altherma will use the one producing the least
CO
2
.
The selected operation mode determines the calculated total energy consumption cost of the
hybrid system.
4.3.6 Ground Source (GS) Systems
Selecting a ground source system is almost
identical to selecting a low temperature system
with integrated water tank (see Figure 30).
However, you must enter a brine temperature.
This value may range from -5°C to +10°C. The
higher this temperature is, the larger the available
capacities are. Note however, that this parameter
is bound to the installation. By default, this value
is set to 2°C.

4.3.7 Heat Pump Systems
Heat pump systems use a reversible indoor unit,
allowing space heating and cooling. So, youalso
have to enter the required cooling capacity (see
Figure 31). As for heating, it is also possible to
change the water temperature, which should be
done with extreme care and only for specific fine-
tuning purposes.
There are heat pump selections possible for mono
bloc and low temperature systems.
4.3.8 Bivalent Systems
A bivalent system consists of a Daikin Altherma system complemented with a second heat
source, as shown in Figure 32.
As this second heat source is not integrated in a Daikin Altherma system, you need to define its
heating capacity. To cover the required heating capacity, Daikin Altherma will then use this
second heat source for all ambient temperature values below the equilibrium point (see Figure 9)
and the selected Daikin Altherma system (a LT Mono Bloc in
Figure 32) the ambient
temperature values above the equilibrium point.
To make sure Daikin Altherma finds a solution, the percentage covered by the heat pump defined
in the Preferences window (see section
3.5) must be set to 50%. In fact, both systems (Daikin
Altherma and a boiler) will probably be operational about halve of the time.
